D. Evan Skeen practices primarily in the areas of estate planning and estate administration. His practice focuses on the preparation of wills and trusts, formation and restructuring of limited family partnerships and LLCs for family asset management and as estate planning vehicles, facilitating lifetime transfers of assets, and restructuring family-owned businesses. His practice emphasizes the implementation of advanced asset transfer strategies that preserve estates by minimizing federal gift and estate taxes, as well as strategies to transition ownership of family businesses and legacy properties from one generation to the next. His clients include individuals and businesses—both those with substantial assets as well as those with modest means.   

Evan received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia in 2019, where he served on the Editorial Board of the Virginia Tax Review, one of the most respected tax law journals in the nation. After law school, Evan practiced at a large firm in Houston, Texas, where he advised high net worth individuals on complex estate, trust, business, and tax planning matters, as well as large public and private corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and other businesses on income tax and corporate matters.  

Prior to law school, Evan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University, one of the premier accounting programs in the nation. During his undergraduate program, he worked briefly in public accounting for Andersen Tax. Evan stepped away from his undergraduate studies for two years to serve a full-time church service mission in Mexico. 

Evan is active in his church community and enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and playing and watching sports. He lives in Charlottesville with his wife and two children.
